Direct deposit allows your paycheck, Social Security Administration (SSA) benefits, and other recurring electronic payments to be automatically deposited into your ABLEnow account.
It can be used for many types of contributions, including:
- Government benefits
- Structured settlements
- Child support
- Tax refunds
- Contributions from family and friends
There is no fee for using direct deposit. Once set up, funds are deposited automatically and available when you need them, without affecting most means-tested benefits such as Medicaid and Supplemental Security Income (SSI).
Keep in mind that ABLE accounts have an annual contribution limit, and all contributions must be made with post-tax dollars.
Payroll Direct Deposit Instructions
To set up payroll direct deposit, you’ll need to provide your employer with your ABLEnow account and routing numbers. You may choose to deposit all or part of your paycheck.
To get started, log in to your ABLEnow account and select View Profile and Documents, then choose Payroll Deduction and follow the prompts. Download and print the payroll deduction instructions and submit them to your Human Resources (HR), benefits or payroll representative to process.
The instructions include your ABLEnow account and routing numbers. If your payroll provider does not accept account numbers with both letters and numbers, you will need to adjust the format. Keep the “502” prefix, remove “B5,” and replace it with “01,” followed by the remaining seven digits of your account number. For example: 50201XXXXXXX.
Social Security Administration (SSA) Direct Deposit Instructions
Electronic payment is required for Social Security Administration (SSA) benefits. ABLEnow allows you to direct your SSA payment into your account.
To set up or update SSA direct deposit, log in to your ABLEnow account and select Make a Contribution, then choose Social Security Direct Deposit. Follow the prompts to download and print the instructions to provide to the SSA.
The instructions include your ABLEnow account and routing numbers. The SSA does not accept account numbers that contain both letters and numbers, so you need to adjust the format. Keep the “503” prefix, remove the “B5,” and replace it with “01,” followed by the remaining seven digits of your account number. For example: 50301XXXXXXX
