A Closer Look at ABLE Accounts Families that have members with disabilities are eagerly awaiting the debut this year of tax-free savings accounts that will help them set aside money for short- and long-term needs. Known as 529 ABLE or 529A accounts, the special accounts are modeled somewhat on the 529 college savings account.
